6 Disposal by waste management companies
14.94 A landowner or farmer can transfer his waste to someone else for recovery or disposal off-farm at a licensed site. Waste management companies can be used to fulfil this role. The duty of care will apply, and this requires that the farmer take reasonable steps to ensure that the carrier is licensed to take the waste in question. It will also require the completion of a transfer note. In addition to the gate fee and Landfill Tax, there will in this case also be a management fee charged by the carrier for transporting the waste to Landfill for disposal.
