TENURE OF OFFICE
By far the largest and thorniest branch of my subject, and one which has several times been publicly aired in recent years, is the tenure of office of Judges in dependent territories. But that is only part of a much wider subject, namely, the extent to which, and the means whereby, is safeguarded in Commonwealth countries,by protecting them from interference and, at the same time, providing a method whereby, for adequate reasons, a Judge may be dismissed. For a full appreciation of the picture as it now presents itself it is necessary to go some way back in history and trace developments in chronological order.
