8.4.4 TABLE OF CONTENTS
Supreme Court Rule 24.1(c) requires a table of contents for all briefs that exceed 1,500 words. Generally, the table of contents contains a list of every element of the brief that has a title, from the question(s) presented, the opinions below, the argument and its sections that are labeled with point headings, to the conclusion, the certificate of service, and the appendix (if any). The table of contents should list only the first page on which each element appears. Note that some courts allow electronically-filed documents to include hyperlinks to other portions of the same document;10if your court does, you may wish to link the items in the Table of Contents to their appropriate counterparts.
