THE HIDDEN UNIVERSAL SYMMETRY

At this point, we have reached the limits of creation. For all empirical purposes, we may view the created universe as extending over a vast spectrum of space-time scales extending from the Planck scale below to the Para scale above.

Our interpretation of the ancient science of the gods, based upon the system of matched pairs, suggests that the overall spectrum of creation displays a hidden vertical symmetry that remains unknown to modern theorists and involves correspondences between what lies above on macroscopic scales and what lies below on microscopic scales.

To summarize and figure these correspondences, we can assign an exponential layer number L = 1, 2, 3,... to each layer so that the sequence of layers above the half measure can be represented by the set of scales 10L–1 centimeters, while the sequence of layers below the half-measure can be represented by the set of scales 10-L centimeters. Given this notation, the matched pairs of scales, which relate to the cosmological wholes and their microscopic parts, can be tabulated as follows.

THE HIDDEN UNIVERSAL SYMMETRY
Layer Number 10-L Microscopic 10L-1 Macroscopic
L = 12 10-12 Nuclear Unification 1011 Radius of Solar Sphere
L = 16 10-16 Electro-Weak Unification 1015 Radius of Heliosphere
L = 24 10-24 Dark-Matter Unification 1023 Radius of Galactic Sphere
L = 29 10-29 Grand Unification 1028 Radius of Universal Sphere
L = 33 10-33 Superunification 1032 Radius of Cosmic Egg

You will not find this table anywhere in the physics literature, because the symmetry outlined above is unknown in modern physics; it has been derived not from modern physical science, but from ancient spiritual science.

No doubt, many of the scales represented in the table are known to modern theorists, but the correspondences between the two sets of scales are not. In modern science the small-scale and large-scale laws of nature are studied on the basis of two very different theories: quantum theory and general relativity, which do not see eye to eye. As a result, there is no common theoretical basis to ascertain the relations between the large-scale and small-scale laws of nature. Many hope that the new unified theory will provide this common basis, but at this point; the prospective unified theories are little more than abstract algebraic frameworks, which have yet to be interpreted in a way that allows them to yield accurate empirical predictions.

The ancient spiritual science, on the other hand, can already be used to make accurate predictions regarding the organization of the universe over a vast spectrum of space-time scales. Unlike modern science, however, it was not based upon an objective paradigm, which assigns an insentient, objective nature to the unified field. Instead, it was based upon a subjective paradigm, which suggests that the unified field is ultimately a field of pure consciousness. According to the ancients, the vertical correlations between the large-scale and small-scale laws of nature are mediated not by any known physical force, but by the divine mind, the field of pure consciousness that links all of the vertical layers like so many beads on a string. The correlations are hidden because they exist in consciousness; they exist within the divine mind.

The ancients may have described the overall organization of the universe using spiritual concepts and terms expressed in regards to the gods, but this is just a matter of semantics. The numbers do not lie. The correspondences outlined here provide a convincing argument that the ancients possessed a genuine spiritual science.

Although we have reached the end of the superuniverse, we have not reached the ends of the cosmic spectrum.

The first thirty-three layers above and below the half measure represent the layers that are responsible directly for upholding the appearance of the superuniverse in both its real and virtual forms. As such, they are the only layers that we must consider for the sake of empirical predictions. According to the ancient seers, however, the vast superuniverse is but a small part of the infinite reality of the self. There are even larger, uncreated realms that lie beyond the boundaries of the superuniverse, and these are indirectly responsible for its appearance in consciousness. Modern physical science may be limited to the first thirty-three layers above and below the half measure, but the ancient spiritual science was not. It embraced a much larger spectrum of reality extending from the infinitesimal to the infinite. In the remaining chapters we will explore these mysterious, uncreated realms that lie beyond the finite boundaries of the superuniverse.

Although they transcend any scale that can be evaluated on the basis of modern science, the ancient understanding regarding these realms is no less scientific than that supplied for the created realms. Given the fact that the ancient wisdoms provide an accurate description of the overall organization of the created universe, there is good reason to suspect that they also provide an accurate description of the uncreated realms that lie beyond the created universe.

Having reached the shore of this world, we are about to embark upon a spiritual voyage that will take us to the shore of the other world—and beyond. Yet before we set sail, it will be useful to examine in more detail just what the shore of this world represents.
