More to Lose: The Education of Ukrainian Peasants
Another political piece that was falling into place was the general boost to the economy that resulted in more people having more to lose. It was not that Ukraine was doing well, but rather that all resources were now being plowed straight back into developing the country. Now a sense of ownership and agency was emerging with a flavor similar to that of those early Vikings.
What Ukraine had managed to put on the board was an active, nationalistic population, more united than ever before, and highly articulate—at home and abroad—about their feelings about Russia. The middle class has more to lose, and more resources to keep what they had.
