Ukraine in the Age of Globalization
Globalization means that nations and cultures have achieved an unprecedented functional closeness with intensified openness among cultures and nations. It is mediated by all the systems of culture—education, medicine, commerce, technology, religion, communication, policing, and all the rest. In our world of seven billion and more human beings, we are more tightly thrown together than ever before.
The impact of the “new normal” of global interconnectedness has had different effects on dominant cultures as opposed to dominated cultures. These effects are well illustrated by the case of Russia and Ukraine.
