Immersion Injury (Trench Foot)

GENERAL PRINCIPLES

Immersion injury is caused by prolonged immersion (longer than 10-12 hours) at a temperature lt;10°C (lt;50°F).

TREATMENT

Treat by rewarming followed by dry dressings. Treat secondary infections with antibiotics.
