Instead of exclusively focusing on either the established banking sector or emerging lending platforms, when advocating a strategy to move into the future, we propose taking a different approach.
The future is hardly an either/or proposition, but a collaborative effort. It will be a question of which ideas in combination win, more so than which company will have the best ideas. Credit institutions and FinTech startups should join forces to accelerate the learning curve and exchange knowledge as they go. In the hybrid financial sector, the best of both worlds happily co-exist and co-create together with each other and their customers. The question is: what should banks and marketplace lending platforms do to learn from each? And what should they avoid to maximize their learning?
