GLOMERULONEPHRITIS
Glomeruli are commonest sites of renal pathology, which may be primary or secondary to a systemic disease. Clinically, glomerular disorders present either
as nephritic syndrome with predominant hematuria or as nephrotic syndrome with predominant proteinuria, though overlapping manifestations are common.
The term glomerulonephritis (GN) is generally reserved for glomerular disease of predominantly immunological origin, due to a known or unknown cause. According to the course, glomerulonephritis may be broadly divided into: (a) acute GN, (b) rapidly progressive GN, and (c) chronic GN.
