Myocardial disorders include two major groups—(a) acute myocarditis, (b) sub-acute or chronic cardiomyopathies, all characterized by cardiac decompensation without organic murmurs (silent heart), though flow murmurs due to ventricular dilatation and functional valvular incompetence are common.
