Conclusion

We often hear the cliche, “War never solved anything.” Oh? It settled Hitler’s hash, and Napoleon’s. It gained independence from colonial masters for the United States and many of the nations of Africa, Asia, and South America. In combination with diplomacy, it set the boundaries of almost every country in the world today. It guaranteed the freedom of the seas, freed the slaves, and preserved the United States. The historical record rebuts the claim that war never solved anything. People who say this may mean “War never solved everything.” But then, what has?
