Hi-Tech Army

The Ukrainian militias were armed with scraps and relics. Most of their stock was Russian, from the hardy AK47 to the still-functional Simonov AVS-36 (the name gives their original date of deployment—1936). The standing forces, however, were reasonably well armed, with the locally produced Zbroyar Z-15 as their standard assault rifle.

The Ukrainian army had been buying as much up-to-date hardware as they could. In 2016, they ordered Desert Tech SRS sniper rifles from the USA, followed by a big order for Savage Arms 10BA sniper rifles. Along with their own locally manufactured Snipex T-Rex, it was obvious they were not setting the pieces in place for a toe-to-toe tank campaign. The Ukrainian army was desperate to fight on their own terms.
