Actinobacillus spp. Infection

Septicemic disease caused by different Actinobacillus spp. has been reported sporadically in domestic rabbits, and infection among North American hares is common. One case involved isolation of A. equuli from the liver and lung of a rabbit with Tyzzer's disease in Europe. Another case involved a rabbit in the United States infected with

A. capsulatus, which caused multifocal necrohemorrha- gic pneumonia in which bacterial colonies were observed. Tarsal abscesses with emaciation and death has been reported in Sri Lanka among laboratory rabbits infected with A. capsulatus.
