Anthrax (also known as Charbon, Milzbrand) is an infec­tious disease caused by the bacterium Bacillus anthracis.

Anthrax has clinico-pathological features similar to haem­orrhagic fevers, with hyperacute or acute clinical signs and usually a fatal outcome.
