Ceroid
Ceroid pigment is the result of peroxidation of lipids and has been correlated to age in healthy canine liver aspirates (Stockhaus et al., 2002). On Romanowsky-stained samples, it appears as a gold to brown granular material. Unlike lipofuscin, ceroid does not stain with the Schmorl reaction.
