Osteoarthritis and Osteopenia

Degenerative joint disease arises in the aged mouse, which may be particularly evident in the knee joints, with degenerative changes in cartilage. Mice develop osteopenia with age, which varies by strain and gender of mice, with females more affected than males.

Lateral Femoral Triangle Hernias

FVB/NHsd mice, and their transgenic derivative strains, have been found to be prone to development of unilateral or bilateral hernias of the femoral triangle region. Female mice developed these lesions more frequently than male mice.
