About the Authors
Nance T Algert PhD, is president of The Center for Change and Conflict Resolution (CCCR), a professor of practice in the College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences and a clinical professor in the Department of Educational Administration and Human Resource Development, both at Texas A&M University.
She is a licensed professional counselor, licensed mediator, TMCA Distinguished Mediator, and Fellow of the American Psychotherapy Association. Nance is a Certified Daring Way™ Facilitator-Clinician (CDWF) and certified Dare to Lead™ Facilitator. As president of the CCCR, she provides counseling, consulting, and conflict management services. She works with individuals and organizations in higher education on building capacity for effective communication, conflict management and diversity, change management, and organizational development. She has held a variety of leadership roles including assistant dean for organization development and diversity initiatives in the College of Education and Human Development and director for climate assessment and diversity initiatives in the Office for Diversity. She consults nationally and internationally on capacity building, diversity, and conflict management, and is the author of numerous publications. She teaches undergraduate and graduate courses on conflict management and dialogue, and is a former member of the board of directors for the Difficult Dialogues National Resource Center. Carla Liau-Hing Yep, PhD, is an information technology consultant, conflict management facilitator, and educator for Individual and Organizational Capacity Development.
She is the vice president at The Center for Change and Conflict Resolution (CCCR). Carla holds a Virtual Instructor Certificate- TAMU VICP & Peer Reviewer Course Quality Matter Rubric Certificate-QM; a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Lima University, Lima, Peru; a master’s degree in education from McNeese State University, Lake Charles, LA; and her doctoral degree is in educational human resource development from Texas A&M University. Dr. Liau-Hing Yep supports conflict management and dialogue courses for graduate and undergraduate students in the College of Education and Human Development at Texas A&M University. She has experience as a technology teacher educator and web developer, English for business teacher, and an independent business and technology consultant. Carla is currently the instructional designer at St. Mary’s School of California. Her research interests include: bilingual education, teaching with technology, and human resource development with technology. Carla has been a business consultant in technology for over 20 years in Lima, Peru.Kenita Rogers, PhD, is professor and executive associate dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences at Texas A&M University. She received a BS in animal and veterinary science from West Virginia University in 1979, DVM from Louisiana State University in 1982, and MS from Texas A&M University in 1986. After her clinical training (University of Georgia internship and Texas A&M University internal medicine residency), she joined the faculty in the Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences from 1986-2006, and served as the associate dean for professional programs from 2006-2016. She is an ACVIM Diplomate in the specialties of internal medicine and oncology. She has received the Norden Distinguished Teaching Award, Richard H. Davis Teaching Award, three CollegeLevel Association of Former Students Distinguished Teaching Awards, two Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital Service Awards, University-Level Award for Individual Student Relationships from the Association of Former Students, Broad Spectrum LGBTQ+ Awareness Award, Dean’s Impact Award, TAMU ACE Diversity award for faculty service, and the AAVMC Iverson Bell Diversity Award.
She is the author of over 60 refereed journal articles and 30 book chapters. In 2009, Dr. Rogers was named to the Dr. Charles H. and Mildred Kruse Bridges Chair in Veterinary Medical Education, and in 2011, became director for diversity & inclusion. Her current areas of interest include climate and diversity issues, curricular change, outcomes assessment, conflict management, and leadership development.Christine A. Stanley, PhD, is professor of higher education and holder of the Ruth Harrington Chair at Texas A&M University. She is also vice president and associate provost for Diversity Emerita. She has held a variety of university leadership roles including associate director of the Center for Teaching Excellence, associate department head, associate dean of faculties, executive associate dean of the College of Education and Human Development, and acting vice provost for academic affairs. She is a past president of the Professional and Organizational Development (POD) Network in Higher Education. She is a recipient of numerous awards including the Spirit of POD Award, and the Mildred Garcia Award for Exemplary Scholarship from the Association for the Study of Higher Education (ASHE). The POD Network established an award in her name—the Christine A. Stanley Award for Diversity and Inclusion Research in Educational Development. A native ofJamaica, The West Indies, she served on the presidential task force to develop and write the first Standards of Professional Practice for college and university chief diversity officers, commissioned by the National Association of Diversity Officers in Higher Education (NADOHE).
