About the Authors

M. CherifBassiouni is a Distinguished Research Professor of Law at DePaul University and is President Emeritus of its International Human Rights Law Institute. He served as counsel to President Sadat in connection with the 1978 Camp David Accords.

Between 1996-2003 he chaired a Track II Committee of Experts on the “Elimination of Weapons of Mass Destruction,” which consisted of some 40 experts from Egypt, Israel, Jordan, and the United States.

Shlomo Ben Ami is Vice-President of the Toledo International Centre for Peace. He is a former Israeli foreign minister (2000-2001) who headed the Israeli delegation at the 1993 multilateral talks on refugees, participated at the Camp David summit (July 2000), and led the Israeli team at the Taba peace negotiations with the Palestinians (January 2001).

Both have been active in the Arab-Israeli peace process for many years which has brought them together in producing this book.
