Klebsiella pneumoniae Infection
Klebsiella pneumoniae is an opportunistic pathogen in the rat, since it can be isolated from feces of normal animals. However, this organism has been associated with abscesses of cervical, inguinal, and mesenteric lymph nodes and of kidney. This organism has also been associated with mild suppurative rhinitis in otherwise pathogen-free rats.
