Other Changes Associated with Aging

Alveolar histiocytosis, fibrinoid degeneration of arterio­les, and cerebral mineralization are lesions that have been observed in older animals. Focal cerebral mineral­ization may be seen microscopically as an incidental finding at necropsy. There are foci of mineralization in the neuropil, with displacement of adjacent structures and minimal cellular response.
