Other Changes Associated with Aging
Alveolar histiocytosis, fibrinoid degeneration of arterioles, and cerebral mineralization are lesions that have been observed in older animals. Focal cerebral mineralization may be seen microscopically as an incidental finding at necropsy. There are foci of mineralization in the neuropil, with displacement of adjacent structures and minimal cellular response.
