Corona Virus-Based Millennium Outbreaks and Intervention Through Fiscal Policy Instruments
The use of fossil fuels in production and the popularization of plastic production introduced by the industrial revolution has been the beginning of the inevitable end for human beings on the sustainable environment; such that global economic growth has not been possible without plastic since World War II.
In this case, plastics are both driving force and problem of globalization (HBF, BFFP 2019).In addition to the change in production methods and tools, crowding cost, consumption increase, technological development, increase the emission of chlorofluorocarbon gases, creating greenhouse gas effect. These gases, which hold the heat reflected on the earth, act as a covering around the atmosphere, creating an average surface temperature of 15 °C. Increased drought due to climate anomalies brings along the decrease in agricultural yield in most regions, water shortage, the risk of epidemic disease such as malaria and related economic problems (Kadilar 2010). As a matter of fact, especially in underdeveloped countries, poor nutrition (consumption of wild meat through live animal markets), heavy working conditions, strict adherence to traditions, common diseases also prevent the efficiency of manpower (Tutengil 1971) and the economic bottleneck may deepen.
Geographies (Amazon, Central Africa, Asia), where medium and severe food insecurity are experienced in the world, also have the forests with the largest biological diversity. However, the destruction of forests for timber trade, mining, and palm oil production from palm trees for generating income has affected all balances of the environment. As a result of deforestation, wild animals, who had to live closer to humans, found an environment to transfer viruses that can turn into epidemics.
The coronavirus family causing respiratory infection which was discovered by K. McIntosh, PhD, and his team in 1968 was observed in the form of SARS-CoV-1 (2003), MERS-CoV (2012) since the beginning of the twenty-first century and made its striking effect with SARS-CoV2-COVID-19 (TUBA 2020).
