This section points out specific aspects of doing conflict communication research as it relates to the study of culture, taking into consideration issues related to meaning, process, and analysis. Conflict can be especially likely in communication across cultures because of the differences in how people communicate, manage relationships, and handle processes associated with incompatible goals and meanings. Understanding how to assess the underlying causes of conflict in ways that provide comparable treatment of cultures is essential to building theory that explains these processes.
