Aspiration Pneumonia

Mice are obligate nasal breathers, but aspiration pneu­monia is common following accidental inhalation of foreign material. This event can occur under a number of circumstances but especially when shipping crates containing wood shavings are handled roughly in tran­sit. Foreign plant material can be readily identified in airways.
