NSAIDS-Associated Nephropathy

The authors have observed renal tubular degeneration associated with an overdose and/or prolonged treatment with Banamine. Initially, there are foci of tubular degeneration with mineralization, particularly at the cortico- medullary junction. In surviving mice, changes may progress to chronic nephropathy. Affected kidneys are pale, with irregular cortical outlines. On microscopic examination, there is degeneration and atrophy of renal tubules in both the cortex and medulla, with relative sparing of glomeruli.
