Spinal Fracture and Posterior Paresis

Mice are commonly the victim of cage lid closure, when they are inadvertently crushed while attempting to climb out of the cage. Rushed husbandry and inattentive technicians in large mouse colonies are factors that contribute to this lesion. Clinical signs must be differen­tiated from viral encephalomyelitis or demyelination and other factors that may physically impinge upon the spinal cord.
