14.54A There is now a substantial body of legislation dealing with potential damage to the aerial environment resulting from many common forms of agricultural activity.

Additionally, the Code of Good Agricultural Practice for the Protection of Water Soil and Air¹¹⁵ gives detailed guidance of a technical nature on the avoidance of odour emissions, dark smoke and other atmospheric pollutants. Its legal status is largely advisory and is discussed below. Agricultural processes are an important potential source of statutory nuisances and odour pollution, although the law has a wider ambit and deals with agriculture alongside industrial processes.
