GLOSSARY 423 validity: an argument or inference is valid if and only if denying its conclusion is incom­patible with accepting all its premises.

Also called Chrysippean validity.

WFF = well-formed formula: a formula that is formed in such a way that it can always be interpreted as a statement. It is defined recursively in 12.1.1 (statement logic only) and in 19.3.1.
