Audit, patient satisfaction, and risk management

Audit is an effective tool to monitor and improve service outcomes. The standards from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists ‘Best Practice in Outpatient Hysteroscopy' guideline (59) can be used to audit the performance of individual units. It can be useful to gather outpatient and inpatient hysteroscopy figures to measure throughput and outcomes. Patient satisfaction surveys are important to evaluate the service and to provide insight from the patient's perspective on pain experienced, acceptability, and quality of service. These have a crucial role in maintaining quality.

Risk management is an essential part of patient safety; regular assessment of equipment, infection control, staff training guidelines, and protocols should be undertaken.
