Other Gastrointestinal Helminth Infestations
Wild lagomorphs are host to several gastrointestinal nematodes, and although domestic rabbits are potentially susceptible, infections are rare. The gastric worms, Graphidium strigosum and Obeliscoides cuniculi, have been rarely found in domestic rabbits. Both are associated with gastritis. Nematodirus leporis and Trichostrongylus calcaratus have been rarely found as small intestinal nematodes in domestic rabbits, and are associated with enteritis in heavy infections. Trichuris leporis and T. sylvilagus are whipworms that may rarely be found in the cecum and large intestine of domestic rabbits. A number of other species infest wild lagomorphs, but have not been reported in domestic rabbits.

- Wild, and probably pet mice, may serve as hosts to numerous helminth species, but laboratory mice have a limited repertoire of helminth parasitisms, most notably pinworms and tapeworms.
