Blastomyces dermatitidis Infection
Pulmonary lesions, consisting of multifocal to coalescing gray-white nodules, due to Blastomyces spp. infection have been documented in a laboratory rat. Microscopic findings included bronchopneumonia with multifocal pyogranulomas containing thick-walled yeast forms.
Speciation of the causative agent was achieved by PCR and DNA sequencing. The source of infection was not found.
